    54 tranny shifting

When accelarting in drive gear occasionally will rev up (slip?) so have to back off the gas then it will shift up ok. When in low and ****ing to drive seems to be ok. What are the adjustments and if it were doing it in both situations what is the cure. trans has been rebuilt. Thank you Brad. Also what about cornering slip or rev? Brad.

If it's just been rebuilt and was done correct , sounds like low fluid , you using the correct dip stick ?

Why it slips in a RIGHT hand turn is because the filter sits on the right corner in the sump and when the fluid gets low the filter sucks air.

OK! If you have the right dip stick and the fluid level is OK sounds to me the "O" ring filter seal is not "sealing" sucking air causing the clutch pack piston to lose fluid pressure when accelerating.

It's not hard to remove the dip stick plate cover and replace the seal and try again to see if that solves your problem , you can usually used the same cover gasket, remove the two slot screws , pull the filter and check the seal ( when installing the filter tighten each screw one at a time a little , back and forth till they get tight) NOT one tight then the other or you will pinch the seal .)

      Roy, is that

"O" ring filter seal" the seal that allows the fluid to drain into the sump?

No the seal for the oil filter that seals it in to the case. What your talking about are the two cast iron rings at the valve body neck that rides in the clutch pack housing (they act like piston rings) PG's are like old Harley's , you can always tell where you park it.
