Does anyone know what a license plate screw envelope for 1973 looks like? I know it is brown and has a part #3875313 and the words (license plate screws) on it. I would like to see a picture of one.

You sure are correct in how it reads. Times have changed I guess as to the way you look at the bag. In the past it was said if the dealer put the plates on the car as delivered and used the screws he would have put the empty bag in the trash can so the bag was not delivered. Now if the car was shown without plates then it could have been delivered without plates and you would need the bag with the screws. I would check with the team leader on this one.

Re: 1973 Screw envelope question.
Ken, The judges are lax in this area. If you look in a ton of the aims for various years you will see that this manila envelop with license plate hardware was in the glove box. It's listed for sure. So if you say lived in PA you only needed the rear plate hardware. Not the front. So in theory there would still be a partially opened bag in the glove box. Partial means only one side of the bag was opened. A lot of times the bag was actually a double bag.
There is a whole new repro market for someone out there. Someone could easily repro this rare bag. Could make a lot of nice cash doing so. I have been looking for years for one for my 63. I saw a photo of one for a later midyear but never a 63.Saw one close though. Wouldn't take a lot of cash to make up these bags. A good print shop could do it. I don't have the desire or I would do it.
GO for it. On ebay recently a Camaro guy paid mega bucks-almost $300.- for a NOS 67 bag (same as Corvette) that appeared to have been opened. Course those Camaro guys REALLY step up to the plate. JD- Top

Re: Thanks...

I just used the on line catalog to look at the picture of the part number you gave and it showed a cloth bag like seat shims came in for sharks. I didn't know the paper catalog had no picture. Sorry

Re: 1973 Screw envelope question.
Mark,
Great photos.
There was a longtime member that reproduced these in limited quantity many years ago. They were very/very close to the originals in size and wording as I have closely compared it to my original. The lettering is darker and the repro lacks the 40 +/- year old patina and wrinkling due to the screws being inside. These are very scarce as you know. I believe they came with many other passenger cars and are not unique to Corvette. I'm not sure when part number 3875313 was introduced. I believe the later C1's (and possibly some C2's) had two smaller envelopes. One for the front screws and one for the rear screws. There was no part number on them.- Top
