Every now and then someone asks the question about the old Route 66 TV show and availability on DVD or video tape. Route 66 Season One (Vol 1) is out on DVD since Tuesday. I bought a copy at Best Buy...15 episodes plus vintage 1960 Chevrolet and other sponsor commercials, and Corvette history and specs.

Re: route 66 out on DVD
Great News they are on DVD's ! Was able to record a few original Route 66 episodes on VHS back in the 80's when they were aired on Nick at Night.
Watched it back in the 60's every friday night on CBS. I was lucky enough to see the real Corvettes from the series when they filmed (I'm Here to Kill a King) up in Niagara Falls, New York.
The episode was scheduled to be shown on November 22, 1963, but was moved to March 1964 due to the similarity of the plot to the Kennedy assassination which had occurred. All TV shows that night and weekend had been pre-empt for News coverage.Save the Wave.>George- Top

Re: route 66 out on DVD
The complete series contains over 5o DVDs if I remember correctly. It's 156 episodes. If you go up on Amazon and search route 66 under DVD you will find the set at around $500.00. Too rich for my blood. Rich- Top

Re: route 66 out on DVD
From what I've heard, the set with all the episodes is a mix of recordings from Nick at Night back in the 1980s, earlier Columbia House releases, etc....quality kind of "iffy" on some of them. I've also seen bootleg copies for sale at Carlisle before, not sure if it is the same vendor, but these too can be questionable quality. I have bought some of those and they are fun to watch. This new release however is recorded off of the original master copies...sells for $24.99 at Best Buy.- Top
