    67 stamped pad decode

When I purchased my 67 #194677S122827 I knew that the engine block had been decked and the stamp pad partially removed as a result. I removed the paint and the picture I'm posting is what is left of the process. What can anyone tell me from what you can make out from this picture.

Your car was about a July 11 car.

That's a very strange pad. It looks like an additional "machining" process was done to the upper section of the pad, after the decking was done with a surface grinder. A belt sander, perhaps? The horizontal legs of the sevens look too short.
Is this the same car that you've owned since 1996?

            Hi Joe,

Yes, this is the same car. I noticed that too ( grinding marks ) but have little knowledge of the machining process involved with block decking. All the casting numbers and date codes coincide with the drive train and build date of this car. At first I thought I had a 300hp engine dressed to look like a L-79 as there is nothing left of the suffix but the rest of the drivetrain wasn't available with a 300hp engine ( this car has a close ratio 4 spd with 3:70 posi correctly coded differential which I have verified ). The engine pulls between 14 & 15 vacuum at 750 rpm idle. I am going to be offering this car for sale and I know to some the stamp pad will be a concern so I was just looking for opinions from those who are knowledgeable.

              Idle speed/vacuum smells like a L-79 cam.
