Re: Vibration
Hi Garth,
It MIGHT be a u-joint but usually if a u-joint were going south, the vibration would significantly deminish or even go away once the load is taken off the driveline (ie depressing the clutch while driving down the road)
I would be more suspect of maybe a drive shaft issue if the vibration is consistent with the clutch engaged or depressed.
If this "vibration" has suddenly surfaced, it could be that the shaft has thrown a balancing weight.
Any drive line work performed on it recently?

Re: Both
But of the two types of shaft, I'd look over the drive shaft first and see if there is a clean area where the weight was spot welded to the shaft.
Well, if no work has been performed to the drive line including rotors and calipers then the dive and half shafts would be even more suspect.
Also now that I've had time to think of "other" possibilities, just maybe you have a slightly bent rear mounted rim as well.
I had a rim once that when I mounted it back on the drum, a piece of rust fell off and wedged it'self between the rim and hub. It was off just enough to make a very anoying vibration through the car. When I popped the wheel off to check my work, the chunk of scale rust fell on the floor. Smooth a silk after that.
If it was the clutch system, I'd have to assume that it would vibrate at ANY speed or rpm.
