How do I get the disc off the rear wheel hub on an 82 corvette? I'm afraid if I use a puller I'll warp it, but it won't budge. Thanks

Keith, I guess I'll take a stab at this one. I have a '67, but I think they are the same '67 to '82. It sounds like the rotor may be hung up on the parking brake shoes. When I remove the rotors, I have both the rear wheels up on jackstands with the parking brake off and the trans in neutral. Then loosen up ALL the tension on the parking brake cable with the adjusting nuts. Then completely close the parking brake star wheel adjusting screw with a screwdriver through the hole in the rotor so that the diameter of the parking brake shoe is at the minimum. Using a soft plastic or leather hammer, tap the outside inner edge of the rotor in a circular fashion, turning the axle as needed. The rotor should pop off, and you definitely don't need a puller, as you might pull off the brake shoes with it. Hope this helps. Patrick -

I just did this on my '74 last week. First, did you drill out the rivets that hold the rotor to the hub? Second, I used a piece of wood held firmly against the back of the rotor and whacked the wood with a hammer. It came right off. Best of luck! Jeff
