    PHIL------

I can see absolutely no reason in the world to use a 283 block to achieve a final cid in the 400 cid range. Assuming that one wants to go that big with a small block, it's much better to start with a much stronger 350 cid block.

joe: i can think of a reason to start with a 548 block and get as much ci as possible---it's intended to go thru NCRS Judging. been done a time or two,so they say. mikie

            mike-----

I would think that any 283 harmonic balancer wouldn't "get it done" for a 400+ inch small block and the sort of balancers that would aren't likely to fool too many NCRS judges (I hope, anyway).

joe,i agree with you but in 1960 the 350 was in the future---i just thought it funny the effort to get more cubes from a 283---phil
