C3 - tracking down build sheet

I recently purchased a 71 convertible small block. The tank sticker was not salvagable. I know the dealership which the car was originally purchased and the name of the original owner. Is there any way to track down a duplicate copy of the tank sticker? I'm interested to see if there is any way.

    Thanks,
    Greg

No, not possible today nor likely to ever be possible.

In fact, I'm not sure that you can even get a reproduction of the tank sticker made, and it's just as well...the tank sticker is not visible, or perhaps barely visible without dropping the fuel tank. The only reasons for needing a duplicate tank sticker besides making you fell better are fraudulent. You are pretty much out of luck if your original tank sticker is lost or destroyed, but like I said above, it's not easily visible on the outside, and it's importance as provenance to establish Corvette value has declined over the last decade or so.

The closest you will come is to have Triple A or Dobbins make you up a repro window sticker...they are very close if you have the applicable option codes. If you know the selling dealer (check the NCRS database for possible dealer number), you are further ahead than most.

Unless the dealer or original owner still have any original paperwork, you are out of luck, but check both of those sources. Maybe one or both saved something for over 35 years. It's worth an inquiry.

        Who was the selling dealer?

I have heard of other copies being found under the dash around the steering column or behind the radio on some C3s. No luck for me, though.

            Ralph,

sorry for the delayed response. The dealer was Jack Amatucci in Wheaton, Md. His dealership was open from 1971 to 1982 (according to the NCRS database).

            Why do you ask?

            Thanks,
            Greg
