on a 71 ls6 car, the 2 vacuum hoses come from the charcoal canister, one coonects to a TEE at the pcv valve and then goes on to the base of the carb with full time vacuum? The second hose is smaller and connects to the other port on the carb?? Is this smaller hose supposed to be on a ported vacuum circuit or full time vacuum??? Mine has been coonected to full time vacuum and am wondering if this is why i have oil consumption without seeing it burning or leaking. Any explanation of what GM was doing would be helpful. I am not using the original carb and maybe it was a ported port? I can use the ported port on the side of the carb that can be used for the vacuum advance if i need to

Re: 71 charcoal canister vacuum hose routing
Jeff,
If you have the Dobbins book, see pages 188 and 189. The routing is pictured in there, but I'm not sure how to explain it in words.
If you don't have the book, e-mail me and I can bring it Sunday.

That I don't know. Not a big block guy, as you know.
However, I would guess the answer is yes based on where they go and how they are used.
Does your current carb have ports similar to what was used on the original Holley?Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS
