    '65 Corvette Carter AFB 3720SB

    Hello,

I have got an early '65 Corvette 300hp MT (#48) with a Carter AFB 3720. Actually, the carb should be a 3721 but the dates of car/engine assembly and carb date (Aug '64) would match. There's no difference between these carbs regarding jets etc.
What astonishes me is the accelrator spring mounting, since there's a hole missing in the arm:
Is this a difference between the 3721 and 3720?

    Regards
    Oliver

The throttle link is not part of the carburetor assembly, and it should have a hole to accomodate the return spring. You can probably drill one.

I believe the only difference between the 20 and 21 is the throttle lever arrangement for the PG kickdown rod.

I may be wrong, but I thought the spring end went thru the hole in the throttle arm end, eliminating an extra clip from the assembly process.

That's the way it always was on my 340 HP SWC engine, but the AIM shows a cotter pin in Section 6 for the WCFB, and no additional information in the L-75/76 section.

There's a hole through the rod on the inboard end (facing the carb), and the end of the spring goes through that hole; see UPC 6, sheet D2, View "A" in the '65 Assembly Manual.
