What is the best way to polish C - 1 Aluminum Valve Covers, and preserve the finish?

Don't polish, have them re-skinned. There is quite a few people out there that do this. The worst thing to do, that is if you are going to have the car judged, is to put the rocker covers up against an aluminum polishing wheel.

What is "re-skinning" going to get me? These are already in nice shape, I am just trying to get them looking better>

What's your definition of "better"? To me, "better" equals "original looking" and reskinning, which will cost you about $100 will restore their originality and have your covers looking as excellent as is possible!

It cost me (a couple years ago) $90 + shipping to re-skin both covers. See Jerry McNeish's website below. There are several that do this process across the nation with prices that vary. Check Hemmings Motor News....
