Preserving a signature

When we picked up our Ron Fellows Z06 at the NCM during the C5/C6 Bash, we got Ron to sign the dash. He used a silver sharpe on the pebble grain dash (vinyl?) What can we use to preserve this? I don't really want to experiment, but would rather find something that works, and although it might be neccessary, I would prefer not to spray the entire dash. We got many of the assembly line workers to sign one fuel rail cover, and NCM employees, Corvette brass and drivers to sign the other one. I am planning on spraying them with a clear lacquer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Taking some good photos of the signatures before they change if they do might be nice to stash away.

I don't know the parts your talking about but I'd remove them.

The dash on a C6 is the entire dash. It can't be removed. We have extra fuel rail covers, but for shows it's nice to have the signitures. They are easy to remove though.

If you spray the covers with a clear coat of any sort, I expect that the solvent in the coating will "dissolve" the pen's ink and cause the signatures to, at least, streak.

I thought that Ron Fellows edition cars already had his signature on them. Perhaps, under the center console cover. If so, that one's in a lot better location for "natural preservation".

Joe, you are correct that Ron signed and numbered the underside of the center consol, but you can't see it! Since this is a special car, my wife wanted Ron's signiture where you can see it. (We have met Ron many times at ALMS races, so the car is even more special to her) As far as the signitures on the fuel rail covers, I intend to make a test on the bottom to make sure that it will not affect the ink.
But, my question remains, what can I do on the dash?

I would say leave it alone and it will be fine. The best way to preserve it in my opinion is to cover the dash with a towell if it is parked in the sun for a long period and don't wipe across it with any cleaners. It won't go away, I promise. I own the 72 Chevelle that once belonged to Zora Duntov. He and Elfie signed the trunk, the fenders, the air cleaner........... you name it, they signed it. This was years ago and the signatures still look fine to this day. Of course I don't drive it every day, but I think your dash will be fine. Just my opinion. Enjoy the ride !!

Thanks Tom. No, this is certainly not an everyday car, and my concern was if we were to clean the dash with something like, but certainly not, ArmorAll. I think you have the best idea, and just whipe the dash with a clean damp towel occationaly.
