Does anyone know where to find the corrct reproduction tire for 63. I have looked at the reproductions, but am unsure if the tire should be whitewall, and if so how wide the stripe, and what brand would be the closest to original. There seems to be about 10 that coker tire has listed for this car. It is a Dec 10,1962 build date. Thanks!!!

Re: 63 tire question
One thing to check for sure is the tires diameter. Measure your tire tub and any existing tire that fits in well. I bought the Firestones from Coker and found out the hard way they are over 28"+ OD. Sent them back, bought the BF Goodrich 1" whitewalls and they are 27". The outer diameters should be listed in the description of each tire so you can choose one that fits the spare tire tub. My original spare for my 64 was the BF Goodrich Silvertown 1".

Re: 63 tire question
I used the Coker Goodyear whitewall on my Jan built coupe. I took the advise of several good members here to use them. I had no issues with the spare either. Fit right in the tub on a correct 63 wheel.Tom Hendricks

Re: 63 tire question
I think that for judging purposes you will find that the Kelsey Goodyear is the closest to original. You will take a minor deduction for the presence of a DOT date code, which original '63's did not have.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: 63 tire question
My 63 has the original Goodyear spare and it's in very nice condition. Years ago I was one of the first to buy a set of Coker's Goodyear repros. Buffed off the DOT as I recall but got caught cheating by BG. Anyhow if they are as good now as they were 20 plus years ago I highly recommend them. Never tried to see if one with in the spare tub but glad to hear that they fit. My other 63 had a set of repro Firestones and I can tell you that no way did one fit in the tub. I believe I mentioned before as we have had about 1000 posts on this subject-believe I mentioned that I let the air out of the tire and forced the tub shut. Rube Goldberg job so it was. Car is gone and I forgot to tell the new owner about that flat spare. Just thought of it now. Probably be a post here some day aoout that. Barry did you catch that???- Top

Re: 63 tire question
Sorry if I errored in saying my Goodyears were Coker. I sure thought they were, but as I look through their listings, they show no Goodyears. I bought them through a major supplier and took for granted they were Coker. That being said.... whoever made them. They do look good and I'm happy with them. You know you have too many cars and too many tires when you can't remember what came from where !!!Tom Hendricks
