Installation B/B Factory side Exh/muff misfit?

1967 Coupe, 4sp, 427/435 hp stocker.Cast iron GM HiPo headers.Just finishing up restoration tour. Running into some bugs. Should have checked when I bought the parts like all the others but didn't check my side exh/muffers, lengths/bends for match. I kept the paper work so no problem doing an exchange but now I'll have to wait at least a couple weeks or more.

In Feb.I purchased a set of GM factory original aluminum side exhaust chambered (2 1/2) muffers. Well they have been sitting around for over 4 months due to this restoration. Today I went to do a fit and found the drivers side pipe/tubing to the muffler is about 4" to 6" too long from the header/flange connection to the muffer.Sections of pipe other than the muffler.

I was just wondering if they may have sold me a drivers side SB/327 2 1/2" exh/muffer assy. My passengers muffler assy. side fits perfect. Anyone know?

I'm going to take the muffler to the Dealer I bought it from tomorrow but would like to know what the difference in length would be between the S/B vs B/B as far as the pipe/tubing. The muffers are probably the same length. I just have too much pipe running to my muffler where it bends.

I'll come back later on another day and post when I find out what the scoop is as far as size and length.grr#33570

Found passenger side pipe and muffler assy.fit exact. Drivers side not even close. Had to cut approx. 4" of round tube (exh/pipe, tacked in place and finish weld. I guess they (GM) must have measured the wrong lenght of pipe. Glad we have the equipment to do such repairs.

Word of advice, anytime you do buy a set of factory side exhaust muffler assy's check your lengths for proper fit. Like I said in my prior post these mufflers have been sitting around for 4 months.grr#33570
