Re: Flash Chrome Stainless - Engrg Data out there?
TC,
I agree with you that it all came with it, but when freshly polished, stainless is pretty hard to tell from the flash-chromed stuff. If you have an event at an inside venue under metal Halide lights, it is almmost impossible to tell. I can spot it outdoors under natural sunlight from feet away, but a lot of artificial lights make it very hard to discern. It would be a tough education process for a lot of judges, and I am afraid would just cause more headaches at judging than you could imagine! Judging the finish on trim would be way worse than the judging of paint, and there would be bunch of pissed-off people. I think that the JG should make note of the fact that the trim was flash-chromed, but judging it would be a pain.

Re: Flash Chrome Stainless - Engrg Data out there?
I've wondered myself how the judging process would respond. Short of swabbing the finished trim with muratic acid (like that would ever happen.. ) Most people would not be able to detect the flash chrome on a freshly restored piece.
however comma,
It seems to me that if a person has the trim off for restoration, it should be done right. otherwise, a few years down the road the ozidation will make it look dingy in comparision to the rest of the bright work on the car.
So let me rephrase my intent here. If anyone happens to have access to engineering data that specifies the application of flash chrome over the stainless trim work on early Corvettes (particularly 63/4s), I'd very much like to get ahold of a copy. For research purposes only..
thanks,
