1964 frame serial number

I have the body off of my 64 and was expecting to see the serial # 4S122991. The 4 being the model year and the last six digits matching my VIN (which they do).
However, what I see stamped on the siderail and on the left rear rail is S1122991.
Anyone know if this sounds correct? Everything I've read says the model year number should appear first....thanks

The S is correct for a 63, I would guess that's it is also correct for a 64.

The model year designator didn't appear in the frame VIN derivative until 1965.

Mike, please doublecheck the stamp on your car. It should be an S followed by 6 numbers.

The first (1) is a place holder, the same as in the VIN. Look back at your post I think you have 7 numbers after the S.

My 64 frame is stamped: S103935...same as the vin. There is no model year.

I can not remember what year that I was inspecting the Chassis line inspection station but I know that I got into HOT WATER because I left off a "1" prior to the "S" in the frame stamp. I guess it must have been on C-3's that I was over there.

Then the "S" in the stamp stood for St. Louis.

Sorry, everything's fine. On second look my guy tells me the number is S112291. One 9 in the number, not two. Poor communication on my part. Thanks for the input though.
