question on the orientation of the mounting screw for the 1963 sunvisor - with the sunvisor in the UP position - should I see the head of the screw or the pointed end of the screw? I have heard both ways, and looking for what should be CORRECT according to the TIM&JG - which, BTW doesn't state one way or the other!

Re: 1963 Sunvisor
Hey Rick, What's the matter Rickie. Don't you believe us on VH's??? The boys are gonna hear about this u know.
When the sun visors are up- which is the normal position you should see the heads (slotted screw) of the screws.
Look in the Aims also to verify this. Also Hinckley, Jorjorian, FI Art and others agree with the above. Ask Bill Sangrey if you don't believe us da.
I checked the original sun visors and hardware on my white car and they are just as above.
Are you coming to Fall Carlisle for you know what? John- Top

Re: 1963 Sunvisor
Rick, 4th edition, page 21. Sunshades. The orientation of the screws is not covered. The type of hardware and finishes of the hardware are covered in detail.
"THe sunsahade is attached to the w/s header by two chrome plated pins which slide into each end of the sunshade (visor). The sunshade is secured to the pins by a special cadmium or zinc(zincad) finish round slotted nut. A chrome plated dish style trim washer serves to protect the vinyl at the point of attachment. The pins are secured to the w/s header by chrome plated phillips scres.etc."
So Rick I would then go to Aims and then to the team leader. Or I wouldn't worry about it at all and just make sure the screws are installed like my car.
Remember that the repro screws are a tad longer but that is nit picking for sure.
For the next show refer to the JM and the Aims and then you shouldn't get a deduct. Maybe someone will provide the Aims page# and info as I have to get back to work. John- Top
