Need formula for 65 Gleen Green

Does anyone have a good correct formula for PPG Deltron 2000 DBC, the color is 65 Glen Green.

Thanks, I know this is a shot in the dark.

    Dennis,
I have the PPG formula for Glen Green acrylic lacquer DDL43412. What is PPG Deltron 2000 DBC? If DDL43412 is what you are looking for, you can send me an Email with your USPS mailing address and I'll make a copy and send it to you.

    Regards,
    Gene

Dennis, My first new Corvette was a Glen Green 65 with two tops. Anyhow I ordered the color as I loved the car on the brochure from the dealer with the very pretty green paint. But when the car came in I got my brochure out and held it up against the car and was disappointed as it was drab and of poor quality to say the least compared to the brochure. The car had one horrible paint job with lots of primer showing, etc. It was a mess. So the dealer repainted the car with the same color on the brochure. Had it custom mixed and boy did that car stand out in the crowd. But of course today you have to go with original. I have seen some very pretty restored Glen Green cars at the show and when I see them I think of my old 65. Tried to find the car for many years but couldn't.
Not being determental of course but make sure you are asking for the correct color at PPG. It's spelled Glen-not Gleen. Maybe there is a Gleen Green and therefore the different paint code than what Gene gave you.In my home town there is a wonderful PPG dealer at a Carquest store and when old Joe mixes the paint it is dead nuts. He uses a computer to match your paint. My old vendor trailer is Forest Green and I backed into a gate big time at a show. Well the PPG match via the little PC was 100% perfect and the trailer is 10 years old. If you have problems getting your paint mixed let me know as Joe at Carquest can do it. I live near Pittsburgh, PA. John

        Dennis,

If your local PPG dealer can't find the proper mixing formula, then you need to find a new dealer! The big problem is that if you bring in your own formula and it isn't right, then you just bought about $400 dollars worth of DBC base coat that you can't use. If the dealer supplies the wrong formula, then it is his nickle! All dealers have access to the old color charts, and converting the formula from DDL to DBC is a snap for an experienced paint mixer.

Don, etal. I don't receive HMN any more or I would know the following answer. Does Bill Hirsh still sell lacquer? Thanks, John

Yep, but his price is high. Last time I checked, he was still selling nitrocellulose lacqer as well. He must be sourcing it overseas, as I do not know of anyone producing it in this country. For cars after 1957 that use acrylic lacquer, PPG is still pretty hard to beat. There are some colors that just don't look the same as original, but most of their colors are pretty close. The paints that don't match that well are mostly metallics and it usually because of the flake size. If you have an old car that you just have to have nitrocellulose lacquer on, then Hirsh is still a good choice.

                Hi John

I talked to the local (and only) PPG dealer here in Key West and they can mix it in BBC, I was just told that from a few others that it would not match the orginal Glen Green. No big problem as I'm going to buy just a pint to shoot a test panel to see what it looks like and also get a feel for shooting paint. ha ha

If it turned out a few shades lighter that would be OK to as the original Glen Green is very dark.
