Drum Brakes on a '64

Which way do you move the adjuster wheel to back-off the shoes? Rotate downwards, or upwards?

Upward. I'm sure it's the same as a 63. What I normally do is remove the brake drum, move the lever outward, then turn the self adjuster by hand to back-off the shoe.

When you look at it with the drum removed you will see why it will not back-off by accessing it through the slot in the drum.
