    C2 Chassis Fuel Line Replacement

Can this be done with the body on the frame? Looks to me like it can't, but it doesn't seem as though it would be designed that way.

    Thanks,

Re: C2 Chassis Fuel Line Replacement

    Brian,

The C2 fuel line runs along the top of the passenger side frame rail and feeds through the frame at the rear. The only way to have enough clearance to install the line in one piece is to have the body up off the frame. You will need to raise the body at least 6 - 8 inches or so in order to have enough clearance. If you choose to do this, there is a lot of teardown required to free the body from the frame. Additionally, you will likely find the body mount bolts rusted solid or the nuts will spin in the cages requiring you to weld on replacement body mounts. It's a big job.

Thanks Don. I guess I'll let it go until I do a frame off (if ever). I just was doing brake likes etc & thought I'd do that also. I did do the body mounts a few years ago so I know that won't be a problem.

Re: You can minimize your pain

By removing the passengers side mounts and loosening up the drivers side mounts and jacking/lifting the passengers side up the six or eight inches that you would need.

Anything and everything that mounts to or passes through the body will have to be watched like a hawk including but not limited to the following.

The rear bumpers, body ground straps, battery positive lead, vacuum lines, pedal linkages, shifter, core support, etc etc etc etc The list go's on and on

Like Don said, it's a fair amount of work, especially if your on a piece of cardboard and the car is on ramps.
