Recently I purchased this 1967 car it was built around 4/15/67. the doors have no lock knobs and no mechanism for the interior locks. The door panels are dated, Jan 1967 I think it said the 17th. and have never been punched out for the knobs. Has any one seen this before? I need to replace these door panels and I don't know what to do. Should I try to find all of the hardware and put lock knobs in the car or not? If I buy replacement panels will they have a recess for the lock knobs? Any advise would be helpful.

When you come across something that appears 'odd' as well as truly factory 'original' in your restoration/preservation efforts, it's time to STOP (as you've done) and ponder/query/plot/plan your alternatives before you take action(s). I have no information to specifically help here. But, I'd advise you to call or write the NCRS National Team Leader on this one. Keith Biggers is listed in the current Restorer table and I know personally Keith's a savvy good guy....

In cases like yours, writing (while longer) is probably preferable as you can enclose photos. Showing the inner door with its un-cut fibreglass and the back of the door panel with its ink stamped P/N and date codes and its lack of holes to accommodate the lock shaft are helpful.... -
