My 12 year old son noticed that the FSB light on our 1986 Coupe does not illuminate when the drivers belt is unfastened as it does on other cars we own. I figured this was a good opportunity for a little Electrical T/S 101. Surely this problem would be no match for me, an aircraft electrician by trade. I explained to him that since the light works during the lamp test when you turn on the key we need not look at the ground which was common to both modes of operation. Well several hours later and well past his bed time on a school night we determined that the switch in the drivers seat belt buckle works fine and the signal is reaching its destination (the audible warning module) burried deep in the center of the dash but for some unknown reason it is not generating the appropriate output, one I am sure it is capable of because once again it works during the lamp test when you turn on the ignition. Has anyone seen this?
Thanks,
Ron
