63 driveshaft restoration

Anyone know of someone for driveshaft balancing and restoration? I didn't see any ads in Driveline. Thanks

Quanta restores driveshafts. I don't know if they will balance them, so you may have to ask them.

Quanta offers the service or, at least, they used to.

As far as just balancing goes, most driveline service shops will have that capability. Spicer-franchised shops which carry the names "Driveline Service of [name of city]" I've found are especially good places to go for this service.

As far as restoration goes, I don't think that anyone can actually restore the as-original surface finish of the extruded tube used for driveshafts. Quanta's service merely turns down the driveshaft tube section in a lathe to remove a small amount of metal, leaving "fresh steel". That's not how the driveshaft originally appeared, though. Even then, the "fresh steel" must be "maintained" by the application of some sort of clear coat or the more-or-less regular application of a product like Pre-Lube 6.

I had my drive shaft and half shafts restored by Greg Gorniak. He is an NCRS judge and restorer. He was able to bring them back to the original extruded look with no cast grey paint. No paint was used at all. He was able to give the color rainbow back on the welded areas too. They have not rusted either after a year on the road. I highly recommend him. Reasonable prices too.
