    69-72 Door

I found a '72 driver's side door in Carlisle this year for my '69 convertible. It's my understanding that the '69-'72 doors are identical, but is there any difference between a coupe and convertible?

I,m not sure about the door itself, but the window glass is definitely different.

Their is a pocket for the chrome pin on the door that fits in the reciver at the top back of the door jam. Paragon sold the pocket you could weld in a coupe door to make it a convertible door. I think 70 to 75 doors use the pin. I don't think your 69 uses the pin so the 72 door you found may not work but I do not own a 69 to check it out.

The 72 door has a side-impact beam in it that the 69 door doesn't have. You can see traces of it at both the hinge end and the lock end of the door. This may or may not be of concern to you depending on whether or not the car has judging in it's future.

I'm thinking the side impact beam came about in 1973, not 1972.

I agree with Ed as 73 was the first year for the beam. If you bought a coupe door it may be close to what you need.

I believe I have seen a few late, say the last week or two of production, 1972s with the side impact beam. It might be wise for the OP to check what he bought just to be sure.
