    Interior Cleaning

Is Pledge furniture polish in the aerosol can good or bad to use on my vinyl interior?

    Re: Interior Cleaning

Kurt when I bought my new leather seat covers for my 68 many years ago from Al Knotch Interiors, they came with the recommendation to use Pledge. I used the Pledge with lemon that came in a pump type container for years. Sprayed in on a cloth and wiped it on to keep it off the windows/windshield. Years ago I contacted Al Knotch Interiors to see if Pledge was still the stuff to use and and it was. Today, I don't know what they recommend. I still have some Pledge, but not much, that I purchased some time ago. On the back of the pump type container it says that it can be used on leather and vinyl. I always looked for that when purchased. The Pledge my wife has in the house now, a pump container with orange oil and the other a spray can with citrus do not have use on the back label for leather or vinyl. The spray can says it has no wax. I don't know if Pledge is made today for use on leather and vinyl. Easy enough to check the labels at the store. I would not use one that does not say it is for use on leather and vinyl. Check with Al Knotch and see what they are recommending today for care on their leather and vinyl products.

I used "Lexol" leather cleaner and conditioner (two separate products) on all my Ferraris over the years with great results; the Connolly leather used in Ferraris on the seats, doors, and other interior panels tends to dry out and get stiff/dry/cracked if exposed to the elements and not properly maintained, and Lexol kept it nice and soft and supple, applied twice a year.

Lexol also makes a product called VinylX. I've used it on my motorcycles' seats which are subjected to a lot of sunlight, and they're still supple and soft. One bike is an '95, and one is an '03.

I use their Vinylex product on the white interior in my '67; works great!
