Should my 1968 327-350 HP corvette have orange painted valve covers or aluminum ones?

Tom and Jeff-----
That's correct; they did use chrome valve covers. Only 2 Corvette small blocks EVER used chrome valve covers:
1) all 1955 V-8
2) 1968 with L-79.
That's it!
The 1968 L-79 valve covers were also used for 1968 Z-28 Camaros. Some Chevy II's with L-79 used them, too. These are hard to find and sell for big $$$, since the "Camaro guys" are after them, too. They are not reproduced that I know of.
However, it's still not too hard to come by a set. Just find any 1968 Chevrolet with small block V-8 and painted valve covers. These are much easier to find than chrome ones. Then, have them stripped and chromed: flash chrome if you want it to appear original. That's all there is to it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
