1978 Replacement Tires

I am looking for a replacement tire for my 1978 Silver Anniversary. Prior communications in the archives suggest Goodyear Eagle GT II as closest to the original. The problem is that the GT II has raised white letters and I want a blackwall because that is what was on the car when I bought it new. Can someone please suggest a blackwall replacement - how close would an Eagle RSA be ?

The Goodyear eagle RS-A is good high performance tire for the money has a speed rated of V. and best of all you can order them from wal-mart for 133.37 a tire. I am sure that this is a whole lot more tire than what you had original equipment on the car. Not to many choices in the tire line with a black wall and most or high performance tires.

The RSA is superior tire - V-rated and installed on police and emergency vehicles. It's Goodyear's "police pursuit tire".

You should be able to order the tire in a blackwall. When I replace the tires on my 78, I ordered a solid white letter and at the time the Good Year dealer only had white outline. Seems I recall going through the catalog, they had the blackwalls as well.

Tom, I checked with three different places and all said that the Eagle GT II only comes with raised white letters, i.e. no blackwall available.

I have checked and not many blackwalls available. I think you are right if I want a blackwall I will have to go with a high performance tire like the RS-A.
