Are the markings/date code readable from outside or inside? I ordered an new windshield from OEM and the markings are backwards from outside. Side glass is dated CV (November/1969) and readable from outside. Build date is December 4, 1969.

Re: 1969 Windshield
Frank,
On my original 71 windshield the logo and date are etched on the outside and read from the inside.
The side glass is etched on the inside and read from the inside.
The codes are VT (January 1971 build.)
The Astro Logo is etched on the inside and read from the outside, of course.

Re: 1969 Windshield
Frank ---- My one previous owner 1969 Corvette has a windshield marked with the date VT as viewed from the outside. The previous owner has not indicated that the windshield was ever replaced and he has provided me with all receits from almost day one. I wonder if there could have been an error in the initial dating since VT is sometime in 1971, not TV as would have been correct for my '69.

Re: 1969 Windshield
Kent, I think that you will notice that the manual does not reference which side to read it from. I do not judge exteriors, but I have always worked on the premise that it the combination of letters would work to be correct, then so be it. That is VT or TV, depending on which way you read it. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I also believe that the mask used to date the glass would work from either side.Dick Whittington- Top
