C1 Rear end codes

Hi,

I am new here and have not received the literature that I ordered from the NCRS store.

Can anyone help me locate and understand the codes on the rear end of a C1?
I have located the number 743833 think are the castingl numbers for the housing.
There is also A 138. I have checked with my NCRS pocket spec guide and have found codes for the gear ratio but have not located any of those codes on the rear end, can anyone tell me where these are located? And of course there is a big P on the carrier.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3743833 is the casting # for the center carrier, the A138 is the date code January 13, 1958, all Corvette posi center sections had the big P but it was very thin, passenger car posi center sections had a very wide, thick P, I believe the assembly date and gear ratio was hand stamped on the opposite side of the casting #'s. Hope this helps you out.

I am still looking for the location of the ratio code as shown in the NCRS pocket spec guide. For example there is a code AN to designate a 3.70:1 POSI and a code of AP to designate the 4.11:1 POSI. Where is this code shown?

Arnie, If you are under the car looking...

at the front of the "center section", it will be hand stamped at approx 9 o'clock on the passenger's side. Often somewhat hard to read. It will have the 2 letter ratio code designation and an assembly date in the same stamping. Wire brush, good lighting, and for the vision challenged, a magnifying glass...
