    C3: '70 SB water inlet bolt/stud. What's it for?

The JG calls for a hex head bolt with a threaded stud on top on the passenger side of the SB water inlet. This came on my '70 LT1, and I almost removed it because it looked out of place - until I read about it in the JG. What was this stud used for?

    Nothing on Corvette.

On some other Chevrolet applications the alternator bracket attaches to a head threaded hole and that stud on the thermostat. I had a 1972 Chevelle with that style alternator bracket.
