    Original top???

The convertible top installation guy told me that he thinks my top may be original. Is there any way to tell? The window says the following.

    TCLM-2

Regalite - surrounded by a diamond shaped outline

    A2-6

    4*72

    Do not rub dry

    Wash with water soaked cloth

ADDITIONALLY, The top is light tan and my car is Riverside Red with a black interior. Strange?

      Charles,

I'm afraid it is a replacement if it is on a 64. I had a Regalite on my 67 which was dated as yours in 1972. I just threw it out last week after having recently replaced it.

Oh well, guess this one is going in the trash too. Replacing with an Ed Knoch black top. Thanks Jerry

          Charles,

If you haven't ordered it from Al Knoch yet, order it from him with the John Kennedy pattern. I attended John Kennedy's Tech Session in Las Vegas this year, and in discussing original tops, John tells me that Al has his patterns and you can special order it from him.

Supposedly, it is much more exact to factory dimensions and detail.

            Gerry-Re: Original top???

            Gerry,
Unfortunately I already have the top, I have had it a long time so I would probably have a hard time returning but I will call Al and try. Thanks for the advice.

              Charlie,
              The Al top has a few errors on it, however understand a few people have been working with them to make corrections so check these out;
The front seal against the chrome of windshield retraces farther behind the top and appears to be smaller. The welding tips at the end do not have a flare on them and (not sure)the welding strip may be too long.
If you want pictures of these email me, I have an original Mar64 top. (akdselectman@hotmail)
