I have a new rear leaf spring and new tires on my 67, but the right rear side (measured at several different points on the body) is 1 inch lower than the left side. On level ground from the rear, you can see that the car is tilted slightly to the right. What might be causing this? Could it be the strut bushings? Or, is there a body mount cushion that is squashed that I don't know about?

Gerald------
Most likely the problem has nothing to do with the suspension, but with the body-to-frame mounting. It could be a result of a deteriorated body mount or many other things, including previous body or frame repair. I can tell you that my 1969 was about 3/4" off from side-to-side from the day it was new. I complained about it and, after the car was inspected by a zone representative, was told that it was within factory tolerances.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Gerald,
The AIM states that ride height variations of 3/4" side-to-side are acceptable. You can "cheat" the leaf spring links to compensate for this, but a judge will see it. But, think of the bright side: if you're of reasonably normal weight, then you won't be listing to stab'd when seated alone in the car!

Re: C2 rear sags a little on right rear
Gerald, I have the same problem on my 1964....but it is the drivers side rear. I have found that my front drivers side coil spring is improperly mounted in the frame tower and it is leaning to one side rubbing the side...many knowledgable people have pointed me to a sagging rear end has less to do with age and more to do with my amature mistake on the front end a arm assembly. Get under the front of your car and check to see your coil springs are seated against the stops in the lower a arm or thatt they are not leaning against the frame due to improper frame mounting.Dino Lanno- Top

Re: C2 rear sags a little on right rear
Hello;
A little additional info on the front springs possibly being the culprit.
There are site/drain holes in the coil spring seats top and bottom.
Looking up from the bottom and down from the top, with proper lighting, the spring position will be visible.
If the spring is not seated properly it can be turned by oiling the seats and using a pipe wrench in between the coils.
Hope this helps.
Ray
PS. Trim height differences side to side and front to back were a problem for dealer personnel and there wasn't much help from the General.And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
