67 Kick Panel Installation

I'm having trouble with reinstalling new kick panels to the plastic vent grill. The new kick panels (bought from a corvette parts supplier) come with all the attaching screw holes in the hard board backing but they don't line up with what is existing in the plastic vent grill. In all the reference material I've looked at, the same screws and location are to be used for the rear center and bottom fastener locations, attaching both parts. Is this a fact? I'm right in the middle of restoring my interior and don't want to go any further until I know this is the correct assembly. ANY HELP, PLEASE............

I purchased a pair of new kick panels with the screw holes already drilled as well and like yours, they did not line up. I ended up restoring my old ones and put them back in. I think you can just drill new holes matching the originals -- I may be wrong however I dont think they will show.

I share your pain, perhaps in a non-original direction. I purchased kick panels with speakers last winter. My stereo head unit is four-channel so I thought that this would give a nice sound complementing the dual-cone Kenwood dash speaker. I fought these every which way but loose and they do not fit. Not to mention the holes do not line up. So they are in a basement junk repro parts bin. It's pretty full.
