    454 engine

Numbers that i can read are C6F1#1S65 on the pad. Unable to get a cast number. Can someone tell me what this could have been in. Also any idea if it would be 4 bolt mains. Kid down the street has it and is wondering what it came from.
    Thanks Mike

Unable to tell what that came from by the numbers. All Mark IV blocks with 4 bolt mains had two plugs, for connection of an external oil cooler, in the side of the block right above the oil filter pad. Two bolt blocks were not drilled and tapped in this area.

That series of characters "does not compute", at all. What is the block casting number?

Joe Those numbers were given to me by the guy who has the block a friend. I have to get and see the block for myself and get a casting number. He said he took the numbers off the pad. They didn't look good to me either.
        Thanks Mike

          Mike -

The "C6F" prefix on the VIN derivative (the rest of which is apparently garbled) says it's out of a '76 or '86 Chevy truck built at Chevrolet-Flint Assembly.

only vintage blocks are drilled for cooler

There are many 1980's 4 bolt main Mark IV blocks that are not drilled for the oil cooler hookup. In the vintage blocks, you will see a 3/4" pipe and a 1/2" pipe thread hole above the filter, the 2 bolt blocks will have a 1/2" pipe and maybe a 1/8" pipe sized hole.

John, Not sure why it was garbled. I haven't been able to get over to there house to get the numbers myself but they told me its a 4 bolt main from the first post and that was there main concern. I'm really hate posting wrong numbers on here as it puts a lot of people out.
              Thanks for your Time Mike
