    Rear End

On a rear end center section for a 62 Corvette with a build date of 11/16/61, how many months prior to the build date would be correct? Also is one month prior to the build date to close? Was the letter I used in these castings?
    Thanks for your help.

NCRS accepts up to 6 months prior to a car's build date for dated components like rear ends. One month prior is not "too close". In fact, it was probably closer to the norm. The letter "I" was used for month designation for most castings. I'm not certain about these C1 rear axle castings, but I would expect that an "I" was used.
