    Holley 3367 accelerator pump

    Folks,

I have a kit to rebuild my model 4160 (list 3367) carb. Question is how do I set the accelerator pump screw? The instruction sheet mentions to add .015 to .020 overtravel after pump lever is in fully depressed state. How do I know when it's in the fully depressed state? My (red) cam is set on No.1 opening. Right now the set screw is set for just touching the pump lever at idle - just to eliminate slack or looseness. At what point to I add (or subtract) in the extra measure mentioned above? Are there any photo's on the web? Does the Holley book on Carbs and Intake Manifolds have anything detailed?
    Appreciate all you responses.

    Kevin,

The adjustment is made with the engine off. Hold the throttle linkage to wide open throttle position with a rubber band or wire wrapped around the carb to a non-moving part. Then push the accellerator lever down to a fully depressed position (with a flat blade screwdriver). Then adjust the screw on the throttle linkage, to the specified clearance with a feeler gage. Pretty easy if you have 3 hands, but possible with 2.

If you have your years Chassis Overhaul Manual there should be a good illustration in it on the adjustment. I know the 67 one has it.

sometimes the cam follower (leaver) will have been bent and adjustment will be hard to obtain,so if you are having adjustment problems you might need to tweak the leaver---good luck, phil

        Jerry,

Thanks for the reply. However, I am still uncertain as to what 'fully depressed' actually is? Fully depressed means the pump lever cannot physically move any further downward? That would put the pump lever at over a 45 degress angle? When the throttle is moved to WOT (fully open) there is a solid stop and the throttle plates are completely vertical. There is no resistance or solid stop on the accelerator pump lever. I do have the 1966 Chasis Service Manual and have reviewed the Carbutetor section but no info on the accelerator pump lever is there. Are there any other books that might depict the setting or is this one of those instances where I may need to bring it to a specialist?

        Thanks for your help!

          There is something wrong here

          Kevin,

The accellerator pump lever shouldn't move more than 15 degrees from horizontal.
At it's dead stop position it should be about horizontal coming from about 15 degrees upward. Are you sure you have the correct accellerator pump assembly for a 3367?

The picture below is a page from the 67 Chassis Overhaul manual with the accellerator pump adjustment:

The carb in the picture is a 3810 series carb, but it has the same accellerator pump cover as the 3367, being Holley part number 85M4036. The 67 3810 carb is basically the same carb as the 3367 with some minor differences (fuel bowls and jetting). The 3810 uses the No. 1 cam position and the 3367 uses the No.2.

          Hope this helps,
