Does anyone know what the clearance should be between the throttle shaft and throttle plate housing on Holley carbs (List 3810) ? The carb I bought has some slight shaft wobble, and if I spray carb cleaner at the throttle plate it does come out the end of the shaft. If I need to repair the throttle body with bronze bushings, does anyone have info on the thin wall bronze bushings used ? I assume it's a kit similar to the one used for valve guides. Thanks in advance. John #19684

Re: Holley Carb.Question
pull out the shaft and see if there is a groove machined in the shaft where it goes thru the base plate. there should be a teflon sleeve in this groove. if not most holley carb kits come with these pieces of teflon and installing it will tighten up the shaft clearance. only genuine holley kits come with these pieces. i have some here so if that is the case i came send you one as you only need it on the throttle arm side. most carb rebuilders can bronze bush the body. most of the carbs i have bronze bushed are carbs that are used in dirt track racing.- Top
