65 Steering coupler rag joint finish orientation

After some research in both the archives and the judging manual, the finish for the steering coupler is said to be natural. Hmmmmm...pic shows definite signs of black, possibility exist that some spray bomb restorer hit it...but unlikely.

Also, notice the "nuts down" orientation...per Michael Hanson's archived posts.

Is either finish or orientation controversial?

    Thanks

Re: 65 Steering coupler rag joint finish orientati

    Hi Jim,

I can't speak on the finish but I'd have to say that the bolt/nut assy is installed correctly because of the way the bolt "head" interlocks with the upper half.
