1970 Sway Bar Finish

I have read that the front and rear sway bars were natural finish. However, after taking mine apart, it looks like there is black paint under where the rubber bushings are located. Does anybody know what the correct finish is? Thank you.

Could/should be black. Was dipped at the vendor before shipment. I have seen the original blueprints and that is what was called for. This is spelled out in the Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide.
