    Swapping rear portion of frame

Anyone have any comments about cutting out a rusted rear portion (from the transmission X-member back) of the frame (73 coupe) and replacing with a Dr Rebuild version?

There are more cobbed up and beautifully restored frames out there than you can imagine. It's done with success all the time by those who have very good metal work skills.

A friend of mine purchased a 75 years back that developed a windshield leak during a light shower that passed through. When he dug into it, he found that the windshield frame was totally shot and someone had built the header up with plywood and bondo..hence the "cobb job" reference

I would fab a jig to ensure that the frame sections go back together exactly where they belong dementionally.

If the frame sections get tweaked in any way during the assembly process, it will be a domino effect with things not lining up correctly. Dealing with fiberglass, that's not a good thing.
