A squared peg into a rounded hole??

I just got a set of new repro window channel liners for my C2 roadster, but the new pieces are perfectly straight, whereas the originals had a curve to match the bend in the channel. I was wondering what everyone else has done to overcome the mismatch, and get the "reproduction" pieces to work??? If I am successful in making the fit, will the window get bound up?

    Help!!

    TIA, Brandon

A curved window into a straight channel??

The front channels should come with a curve and be left and right asemblies. The rear inserts are glued in to fit. If you mean the front channels, you do not have good reproductions. Send them back. - Dave

        Mine are from Corvette Central

I got a pair for my 66 several years ago (after trying to install a pair that had no curve). CC's phone number is 800 345 4122, and the c2 coupe and roadster versions are both listed in my (old) 97 catalog at $38.30 a pair. - Dave

I just installed a set of channel liners from Corvette Central and still had to bend them so they would fit!!

I bent mine slightly by hand and also added a extra rivet in the channel so it would sit flush. They fit and look good now.I haven't bought a repro part that didn't need some modifying.

Re: A squared peg into a rounded hole??

Brandon, I got mine from Volunteer Products. They advertised both the straight and the "correct" bent ones, which is what I ordered and received. However, I did have to massage them a bit. I just used my hands and gradually worked my way down the channel, adding impercetable bends every 3-4 inches. I used the old channel as a guide and when I was done they came out very close. Gary 21316 66 convertible

Thanks, Gary. I looked thru the Volunteer catalog today and saw that they have both kinds. I'll give them a try.
