...For reasons I don't fully understand, I have never had the pleasure of replacing the choke tube. Would really appreciate some guidance (tips) on removal and replacement.

MY Pleasure. The tube is expanded on both ends,the bottom end being larger. If your lucky take a 5/16 drift and tap it down and out if not you'll have to drill it to relieve pressure and tap out. Goes back in pretty easy with a little never seize for next time. Have fun Terry- Top

When you replace the choke tube make sure you line up the top end with the hole at the top of the exhaust. If not you will bend the tube and it will not seat properly. I used a stiff wire at the top to guide the tube in place. It took me two or three tries to get it right ( with two bent choke tubes). I also made a small tool to seat the tube. I have loaned it to another member and would be happy to send it to you if you think it might help.
