I am looking for a nice original C-2 coupe? I am hoping to find one at Carlisle. Will there be some experienced classic car hauler's there in the case that I do find something? If I am lucky enough to find something I want I am not going to trust Bubba to bring it home!Tom

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Tom, Typically the dealers and buyers bring their own rig to haul their new toy. U-Haul which is a mile or so from the fairgrounds usually has a lot of open trailers for rent. But as far as the big transporters you had best make arrangements with one before hand. Just my personal observation since I have been attending the show as a vendor or spectator since it started. Best Corvette event on earth. But come prepared and don't rely on others. Good luck, John- Top

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Thanks John I will make some kind of arrangement before I buy, if I buy.I was invited to bring my 88 for the Gallery, but I do not have a truck suitable for towing.I am flying into Harrisburg and not driving so u-haul won't do any good unless I buy something and store it until I get back up there.I plan on looking up your booth when I get there. Thanks For your help. tom- Top

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Tom, Looked in an old program for a better answer for you.
Transporters/Shippers. Trans Ocean Auto Inc. Flemington, NJ. Shipping Cars from the show. In vendor index. No other info but maybe someone will chirp in or you can find them on line. I imagine all the major big buck transporters will be there though.- Top

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
I perchased a vette last year at Carlisle, little did I know that no haulers were to be had. I had to have a friend drive the car( thank goodness it was drivable) and store it until I could make arrangements to have it picked up.
I live in Louisiana, so no chance of me driving anything home. Luckly for me my friend lives in Ohio.

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
I usually talk to the local Chevy dealer in the town where I'm buying. If i buy something, I take it there and then hire a transport to pick it up there. Chevy guys are usually pretty good at helping fellow Chevy guys !Tom Hendricks

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Thankis for the info. I never thoght about the local Chevy dealer.John does Carlisle have a chevy dealer? Is it big enough town to have a dealership?I will be sure and find some way to get it home before buying! I live in Florida and have round trip tickets. If there is no local Chevy dealer I would try and find some place to store it and then fly back up and get it later. Thanks again.

There is a row of dealers in Harrisburg. Just down the road. Do a search on the net and you'll find one.Tom Hendricks

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Tom, If it were me I would impose on a local NCRS member and pay him to store the car for a week or so. Then if I was in the big bucks (which I am not) I would send a transporter to pick the car up at his house pronto. Maybe someone here can help old Tom. If I lived closer to Carlisle I would keep the thing for you providing it's a 63. I could use a good parts car. John- Top

You can leave at my house for a short time
I live about 1 1/2 hours away. If you don't mind leaving it outside I would be willing to let you leave it here for a short time 1 wk. No charge for a NCRS member. But please I don't want more then 1-2 responces. My zip is 19425. I will be there on Friday.- Top

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Brain, it's a shame you don't know a good dealer. There are still some out there. I've been in the Corvette business for many years and have been happy to shelter many Corvettes awaiting travel to a new destination. Be assured all were safe and well cared for in our dealership. Your bicycle would be safe in my showroom too !Tom Hendricks

Re: Carlisle Car Haulers?
Tom, I agree that it is a shame. My most local Chevy dealer (50 yr history) was taken over by *****s 10 years ago and closed by GM a couple of weeks ago, I can't believe that it took GM that long to close them. The next local store is no better, and the next closest was also closed by GM, what does that say??? I always say you will never get better service than at an owner operated shop. JMHO- Top
