So if you restore this one to NCRS standards you end up with... what? A set of crates???

Does that make it an "over the counter" Kit car? Does it have a VIN? To get a car in parts out of Chevrolet would take some very special paperwork, unless it was purchased over the parts counter. I know of one Corvette that was built of parts bought over the counter in pieces, and it wound up being registered as a "Homebuilt", state-issued VIN, not resembling a Corvette Serial Number.

                Re: 62 fuelie

I finished the restoration of that car in the early to mid '90's. The restoration was started by the late Lee? Clark in Charlotte. The car passed thru a couple of hands before ending up in my shop. (I had the opportunity to buy it partially assembled for $12K and did not have the money at the time).

They started with a documented fuel car less engine. Clark found the engine, fuel unit, transmission, and differential still in shipping crates. The story goes that the drivetrain was purchased in 1962 to install in a Jag.

Oil was added to the engine, water and anti-freeze also. Engine was never started

Doc Mikie saw this car many years ago while it was in my shop.

                  Thanks Dick,

I fiqured some one here would know the story , if it was true .I thought Loren might be the one though.

So who is Tom Mcneal and why has the car never even been fired up. Couldn't possibly hurt it value ,just checking to see if it works , could it?

Looks like somebody has been visiting Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville, Tn. I don't know if Floyd personally owns that car as some of the stuff in his building is on loan, but it's been there for several years now. It's worth seeing, especially if you believe the story and I haven't caught ole' Floyd exageratin' a car yarn yet.

The only reason that I know of that might keep it from running would be a 45 year old FI unit. 'Course I guess old "Tomato Brain" on FIPhart up in Western PA MIGHT be able to fix that

Tom is a close friend of mine. He just made the decision not to crank the car. He doesn't need it to drive as he has several C-1's, C-2's, and C-3's to drive.
