Old members learned how to spell in school.

A spell checker won't help, and will probably slow things down (members are already complaining about the perceived lack of speed). I use the one on my computer before posting, but most of the errors that I see are word substitutions (i.e. vice for vise). Spell checkers don't see those. - Dave... P.S. Be nice.

Re: Old & New Members need spelling help *TL*

I will pass on what I use - FWIW

I keep my favorite word processing program running minimized. I type what I think I want to say.

        1) Control A

        2) Control X

        3) Maximize WP screen

        4) Control V

And then hit spell check as that program allows.

Reverse the process to cut and paste back to the message for the board. It is easy and does not slow down the responses from the board.

I think it is really bad form for the editor to misspell words, but there is no help for the misuse of words. There I need to use a grammar checker, but I don't want to spend the time doing that.

        Terry

          Re: Spell Checker *TL*

Spell Checker is coming. I told you guys last week when we go a hundred referrals for new members I would be adding Spell Check. Well we only have about 20 so far, and Roberto did most of those. He is planning on starting and Argentina Chapter.

The spell check will run from another server so it should not drag down our speed any at all.

            Re: Spell Checker

Gee folks. I didn't mean to start a riot. If the board never gets any better than it is now, its just fine. By the way, I'm old enough to have been taught to spell in school.

              Variety is ...

the spice of life. I can't speak for anyone else, but find some of the imaginative spelling and usage to be a comforting confirmation that the computer chip has not yet completely taken over! Just my 2 "sense".

                Seems To Me

A spell checker would help with things like misspelled words, then again, I may be wrong

Lazy? Most computers have a spell checker.

See Terry McManmon's response, if you have trouble using it. My apolgies, if you are running a UNIX box (or some other oddball machine) that makes use of spell checkers difficult. - Dave

Come spend a day inj the blind guys garage

we will see who walks out and who crawls. I am in favor of anything that simplifies any operation, I always thought it was the obvious, intelligent and practical method of approaching any problem. I've worked with engineers who would spend hundreds of thousands to light a cigarette with a laser, I'll use a match.

                        BRAIN CHECKER

In my case I need a brain checker to see if it's turned on when writing.
