The block is a 454 block casting that was manufactured sometime during the late 1970's through the 1980's. I can't account for the casting date you reported. It would indicate the casting was manufactured on October 22, 1970. There's NO way it could have been manufactured that early. I suspect the last digit is a "9". October 22, 1979 would be possible.

The heads are also a big block casting dating from the same period as above. They're open chamber, cast iron, rectangular port heads of 118 cc, nominal, chamber size. They were once available under GM PART NUMBER 6260482.

I suspect what you have here is a SERVICE "LS-6" engine assembly once available from GM under GM #360250. These engines were available during the 1980's and were once quite popular.
