i just bought a car that spend its life in Indiana. Does Indiana DMV offer ownership history for cars as old as 1964. Contact info?

Hi Wayne. I wrote to the Indiana DMV in 2005 to try to find ownership info regarding my 1970 roadster. I was provided with the name of the owner in 1977 (which lead me to the original owner), despite the fact that the title search forms state they don't go back more than 10 years.
I downloaded the owner/title search form from the Indiana DMV website and mailed it in with a small fee, I think around $15.

They have a new system now. If there's no activity on a title for I think five years, it goes out of the system.
I just went through this last year. I had an old car I hadn't licensed in a number of years. They couldn't find it in their system now. I had to bring in the title to show proof of ownership in order to get it titled.
They just changed over to a new high tech computer system last year with some low tech programmers I'm afraid. Things were a mess for awhile. There's still some problems.Comment
