    63 headlight bucket bezel screws

My 63 has the original headlight bucket bezel screws. They are chrome plated. My friend Jorjorian has several 63's that also have the original chrome plated screws. Our screws go thru the front of the bezel. (not the side) Feb-March cars or earlier.
But some people say that these screws should be blackened. If they were they would last about a week and be rusty don't you think. Anyone with unmolested early to mid 63's out there? My donor car that I had years back-parts car that was a CA driver had these screws chrome plated also. I swiped some of them as the long ones are very special as you know. They were chrome plated.
Your thoughts please. Thanks again, John

I have owned several 63s. My memory says the long front screws were ALL chrome. The current Oct 62 car is chrome. I suppose they could have all been changed, but I don't believe it.

Wayne, From the emails I have gotten and your reply & even a phone call it appears that typically the two long screws that go thru the front of the bezel on the headlight bucket are chrome plated. Not black. All the 63's I have owned had these rare chrome screws also. It's just another plating issue which makes our hobby interesting. Thanks, John

        John,
Funny you should mention this. The Judging Manual states they should be black, however, I was at the MAC Chapter Meet, talked to several people, and everybody agreed the Judging Manual is WRONG...

Interesting bit of information I did get was, one of the folks stated they are going to be judging in BOSTON by the new manual that has not been published yet>>>> I am not to happy about that, as how many new mistakes could be introduced into revisions?

CHROME is the correct bold for the 63s.

Collins, I wouldn't advise going on chatter your hear. Ask Carlton this question for sure. He's on the 1st page of "The Restorer". Or ask Roy Sinor. I doubt if the changes in a manual will effect your score much if your car is properly restored anyhow. Here is what I have learned the hard way. You must pass the operations. All the other crap is just little dings. But failing ops stuff will kill you. Good luck at the show. John

I doubt if the judges will be using the new manual at Boston. In fact, it's release has been delayed until after the National meet to avoid conflicting standards on the judging field.

Looking forward to finally meeting you as I will be there jocking for an OJ position on the 63/4s.

            See you there.
