Does anyone have photos of a BODY IN PRIME Corvette? These were extremely rare Corvettes (less than 300 ever made) that were shipped in primer only from the assembly plant. SPECIAL PAINT - BODY IN PRIME was the option description on the invoice. I am creating a web page - www.bodyinprimecorvettes.com - for discussion of these cars and would appreciate photos, and stories, too.

Re: BODY IN PRIME photos
My 65 coupe is blank where the paint code typically goes. The Dobbins book, Vette Vues Fact Book of the 1963-1967 Sting Ray shows a similar trim tag for a primer car. I don't have any paper work, so who knows. I'll be glad to share a photo if your interested.- Top

Re: BODY IN PRIME photos
Hi John. I was a painter at Big 4 Chevrolet In Collinsville Il in the 70s . We ordered & sold 2 prime Corvettes . I think they were 75,76 or77 I dont remember. Both came in grey primer with silver painted bumper covers and all the small trim parts were silver . They both had dashes -- where the paint code would have been . I painted both AMC purple for the owners .(not the same owners). I remember both were very dirty and full of dirty hand prints.all trim was installed just like a painted car & it cost $100.00 extra for them not to be painted. Back then we repainted almost all the new Corvettes before the owner was told they were in. Bill- Top
