    (C3) Instrument Color-1970

Sorry to ask such a basic question, but my encyclopedia is not here yet and I only have a couple of days to finish this: I have an early 1970 (Month "B"-Feb 22)with a bad odometer. I found a used speedometer for $100, but the shop says that all 68-71 had green lettering on the instruments. All the gauges and instruments on my car are white. I am the second owner, so it is possible that all the instruments were switched. Does anyone know if white lettering was used in 1970?

    Thanks,

Sorry Manuel, all 1970 used light green lettering on the instruments. I have an early 1970 (Jan 29 build) e-mail me if you have more questions about your car. Happy to help.

Of course, Terry is right. They're "green."

One hint is that, in my cars, I noted that they "looked" white and I had a terrible time deciding this too. It wasn't until I bought a "white" clock for 72 that I saw how "green" my 71 really was. So, you may still have the "correct" ones. Did your gauge cluster have a date on it? Mine was on a white 1x3 inch (approx) label on the back of the clusters of both of my cars.

      Hope this helps.

In my Feb 70 car (B05) I found two labels in the back of the speedo and tachometer as Patrick explained, a red one reading LB and a blue one reading LD and a date. My car is base with base tachometer (5300 rpm). Hope this help a little. Roberto NCRS #30019 RMC
